Architecture on the Thames Central with guest speaker from Simpson Haugh Architects - Saturday 28 September 2019 1pm
This afternoon tour along the River Thames surveys the landmark architecture of central London’s embankments and the skyline beyond with a special focus on the work of Simpson Haugh Architects, one of the few British firms to master the art of designing tall buildings.
We’re lucky to have one half of the firm’s founding team, Ian Simson join the tour this time. He will speak alongside regular guide Benedict O'Looney - a practicing architect and a teacher at the prestigious Architectural Association - guarantees deep insight and thoughtful commentary on all aspects of London’s architecture.
Ian Simpson and Rachel Haugh founded their practice over thirty years ago in Manchester. Now with studios in both London and Manchester, their work is centred on a belief that innovative architectural thought has the power to shape and transform our cities. Today they will focus on key Thame-side projects Circus West Village, a sustainable and mixed use place as part of Battersea Station Phase 1 and One Blackfriars, a shimmering façade and new public plaza creating a new gateway to the historic borough of Southwark.
